Coco is famous with its pork knuckle soup base. Even though it has opened for years at multiple branches, people never stop loving it especially the pork knuckle soup base. Especially for friends' gathering, I often go to Coco steamboat (Cheras / Tayton branch). What I love about this restaurant is availability of parking space, option of indoor / outdoor dining area (indoor area comes with air-conditioning) and definitely, as mentioned above, its pork knuckle soup base (although it is a bit salty). However, frankly speaking, it is not my favourite for steamboat. Let me tell you why, 1) Bad quality of service, the waiters / waitresses are easily hot tempered and trust me, I'm not the only who complain. If you search online, you can see many people sharing my concern. 2) Refilling soup is charged. Unlike many other restaurants, refilling soup (for pork knuckle soup, not sure about other soup base) is charged and be noted that RM20 is applied already when you choose pork knuckle. If I'm not mistaken, RM 5 is applied for each refill. That's a big leap if you are coming in couple or less than 3 peeps. 3) Food is so-so. The provided ingredients are common. Each set comes with few pieces of meat, fish balls, one dumpling, some yam sticks and definitely MUCH fried bean curd skin and vegetable (I think you know why). Many opt for ala carte order for meat but it is not cheap. Getting a set of meat costs RM20 ++ . If shabu-ing meat is what you wanna do, why not go to buffet style steamboat restaurant that charges you RM35-RM45 per pax. You get all you want.

The heart of Coco Steamboat Cheras Taynton is undoubtedly their signature pork knuckle soup base, a rich and savory offering that has become a hallmark of the restaurant. Many patrons, like Jia J., rave about its distinct flavor and comforting essence, making it a must-try on your visit. The ambiance is flexible with options for indoor and outdoor seating; the indoor area being air-conditioned for those balmy Malaysian days. This addition makes it a versatile venue for all occasions.

  • Pork Knuckle Soup Base: Renowned as the star of the menu, offering unique flavors that patrons can't resist.
  • Dining Options: Enjoy your meal either indoors with air conditioning or outdoors where you can embrace the tropical feel.
  • Parking Availability: A major convenience in a bustling city, ensuring a hassle-free dining experience.

However, as with any dining experience, there are some caveats. The consistent feedback indicates room for improvement in service quality, with some customers noting that staff can sometimes be a tad hot-tempered. Additionally, it's important to be aware that the refilling of the pork knuckle soup incurs extra charges, which may catch some diners off-guard. This policy contrasts with many other steamboat restaurants and could deter those expecting a more traditional experience.

While the selection of ingredients is adequate, some diners feel that it lacks variety compared to buffet-style alternatives. Therefore, if you’re aiming for an all-you-can-eat experience, you might find better value elsewhere, priced around RM35-RM45 per person.

In conclusion, Coco Steamboat Cheras Taynton presents a delightful experience especially for lovers of the pork knuckle soup base, but it's essential to approach it with a balanced perspective. Whether you're in for the savory flavors or the social ambiance, Coco offers a unique spot within Kuala Lumpur’s diverse culinary landscape.
